PointsHCP is a performance handicap series — each boat's HCP moves up
or down based on how they actually raced, evolving race by race instead of using a fixed club
Yardstick. New races come from the Entry page's “Post PointsHCP”
button as usual. Sec here holds each race's already-combined elapsed time (raw
elapsed plus that boat's minutes advantage, added by hand before entry) — it's a
permanent snapshot from the moment it's posted, so revising a boat's HCP afterward never
rewrites past races. HCP and Advantage (below, before the results) are recalculated live from
the full race history every time this page loads. Any Sec cell can still be corrected
directly: click it, type a new value, press Enter or click away — doing so will also
shift that boat's HCP/Advantage, since those are always derived fresh. The small × in
each race's header deletes that whole race. Nothing's saved until you click
Download pointshcp-data.js below and replace the file on your site.
Both formulas are set. The Advantage formula (
hcpToAdvantage())
is confirmed, verified against Test-Res-HCP-mod.ods. How much a single race moves
a boat's PHP (reviseHcp()) uses a damped, capped mechanism (built and tested,
ignores DNC/DNF) with a 20% move rate set as the working default — a
deliberate choice rather than one checked against outside data, so adjust it via the HCP
adjustment field below if handicaps prove to move too fast or too slow in practice.
